Pets are considered human best friends. These tamed animals all have different ways to behave, but feline pets, in particular, are bizarre in how they behave. Everyone who keeps at least one of them is always finding an explanation on how they behave and trying to figure out why. One of the most important ones is; why does my cat sit on me all the time? It’s an important question because most owners find it hard to understand their behaviors. Honestly, they are the hardest pets to read.
Good news to you; below are some of the reasons why it`s always cuddled up on your lap or shoulder;
Territorial animals
These feline animals are very territorial. They like to mark what`s theirs. This might seem weird since they are mostly termed as the mean ones. Once they draw their binderies, they are sending a message to the others that this is mine and no one can take this away from me.
Mark their spot
When they lay on you, they transfer their pheromones, which come from their face and paws to you. This gives you a scent that uniquely theirs. It`s a way of establishing ownership of that spot. Other pets always get the message and either respect that or fight. That’s why many times it`s hard for other pets to get along with the cat found at home already. It`s almost like they are saying to the other party; this is my home buddy.
To show affection and love you
One of the most common concerns about cats Is; does it even love me?
Yes, they do. They play favorites too. Cuddling themselves on your lap sometimes is to show you some love and affection. Surprised? Don’t be. They love you and that how they display it.
To stabilize their body temperature
A felines body temperature rests at about a hundred and two degrees. They are known to find warm places to cozy up. This helps them to keep their temperature stable at all times. This is one o0f the reasons why when washed the want to cuddle on you.
Ultimate pillow
Your lap is warm and soft, making it the ultimate pillow. It feels comfortable. Even though they are known to be comfortable in the most uncomfortable areas your lap is the ultimate comfortable place to be. And what better place to be than that lap and be soothed in the most loving way possible. A double win for your cat.
Safety and happiness
Cats love safety and comfortability. These are the two factors they consider before they settle and sleep anywhere. It feels safe and comfortable on your lap.
Trust
Plain and simple. Your cat trusts you.
Attention
It merely wants all the attention to itself. It’s like saying; give me my attention human, give it to me now. They love attention. They crave for attention sometimes as much as humans do. They want that bond that forms with attention giving with you.
They like sounds from your body
The silent breathing and throbbing of your heart soothe them. Weird, right? But that’s cats for us.
They can be distant sometimes leaving you feeling like the bond is cut off, but that’s not the case. Sometimes they just like privacy and keeping to themselves which makes them feel good as much as sitting on your lap does. It`s good to respond lovingly and encouragingly to form a stronger bond with them.
