A fine and 15 days in prison: In the state of New York were forbidden animal tattoos and piercing Local New Yorkers will no longer be able to do their pet tattoos and piercings. The state Governor Andrew Cuomo signed a law that prohibits owners of dogs and cats to subject them to painful procedures.

The law will take effect in four months. From now on, any marks on animals can be applied in the presence of a veterinarian and for medical purposes or for identification only. For violation of the law criminal responsibility of 15 days in jail and a fine of 250$ is provided.

Cuomo said that he is proud to put his signature under this document because all such manipulations with animals are a pure abuse. Thus, it will stop the horrible such procedures in the state of New York.

Chairman of Legislative Assembly Linda Rosenthal commented on the new law. «It may seem unbelievable that someone wants to make a dog or cat piercing or a tattoo», she said. «But look in the Internet and you will see that this trend is gaining in momentum». Rosenthal believes that a sense of style pet owners should not embody in them thereby causing their pets pain and injuries for life.
