How to Schedule a UKC Hunt Test

This month, we will be discussing how to schedule a UKC Hunt Test on the UKC website.

The UKC Hunt Test Program is one that was designed to be as simple as possible. In a world so technologically advanced and sophisticated, it only made sense to make scheduling an HTX event an easy process completely through our website,

When preparing to schedule a UKC Licensed Hunt Test at your local club, all you have to do is access the United Kennel Club’s main page on our website, and click on our Hunting Programs link at the top of the page.

Once on the UKC’s Hunting Programs page, select Coonhounds and head to the HTX Schedule, Rules and Forms hyperlink to the right. This will be the section of our website where the scheduling will take place, and where club members can find all necessary rules and forms that pertain to holding an event.

UKC policies regarding the scheduling of a Hunt Test require that an event be scheduled 30 days prior to the date you wish to hold the event. This is for advertising purposes mainly, as our 100-mile conflict policy does not apply to Licensed Hunt Tests.

Once you have selected the “Schedule a UKC Licensed Hunt Test” section of the page, you will be redirected to the Hunt Test Scheduling template where you can enter all the necessary information for your event, as well as receive information on recording fees and such.

After you have submitted the information for your Hunt Test, your request will then be approved and added to our Upcoming Events Listing for Hunt Tests on our website.

Before exiting the UKC Hunt Test page, be sure to print off any forms that the club may need to successfully complete the event. Under the HTX main page, you will find hyperlinks that will lead you to multiple forms required for a UKC Hunt Test. These include, but are not limited to, Evaluation Forms, Hunt Test Report Forms, Hunt Test Policies page, and Hunt Test Pass Receipts that can be given out to the winners at your event.

While there are no licensing fees associated with hosting a Hunt Test at your local coon club, there will be a recording fee of $3 per dog at the event that the club will have to send in with their Hunt Test Report that will be mailed to UKC immediately following the event.

Hunt Tests are also unique in the fact that they may be held on any night of the week. This is something to consider when selecting a date in which your club would wish to hold an event. Many clubs choose to incorporate their events along with their monthly club meetings, while Friday or Saturday night Hunt Tests are still fairly popular as well.

Hunt Tests set the precedent for what all event scheduling should be like in the not so distant future. Accessing the internet is becoming easier then ever, but for those without a computer or access to one, feel free to contact UKC to schedule a Hunt Test at a club near you.
